Gentle, Heart‑Centred Counselling in Bunbury
A quiet space to pause, be heard and reconnect with yourself
Life can sometimes feel emotionally heavy or difficult to make sense of. You may be moving through grief or change, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, or noticing patterns that continue to affect how you feel and relate to others.
Counselling offers space to explore what is present with honesty, compassion and gentle curiosity.
You do not need to arrive with everything clearly understood. You can begin wherever you are.

A space for understanding and reflection
Counselling is not about fixing you or telling you how to live your life.
It is a collaborative process that offers space for your experiences, emotions, relationships and patterns to be explored with honesty and compassion.
Together, we may look at what is happening now, what has shaped the way you respond and what may support you to feel more grounded and connected with yourself.
Sessions unfold at your pace. There is no expectation to share more than feels right for you.
What may bring you to counselling
Counselling with Julie is gentle, trauma-informed and centred around your emotional wellbeing. It may support you with:
-
Anxiety, overwhelm and emotional distress
-
Grief, loss and significant life changes
-
Relationship or family concerns
-
Boundaries, self worth and people pleasing
-
Health changes, ageing or questions of identity
-
Recurring emotional or relationship patterns
-
Feeling disconnected from yourself
-
Periods of uncertainty or personal transition
You do not need to fit within a particular category. Sometimes there is simply a sense that something needs time, attention and a space for your voice to be heard.
How sessions unfold
We begin with what feels most present for you.
A session may include reflective conversation, gentle questioning, emotional processing, grounding, nervous system awareness, breathing, values exploration or practical tools that you can use between appointments.
These are offered as invitations rather than expectations. The session is shaped around you rather than following a fixed process.
Counselling is offered by Julie Matters, a qualified Social Worker with more than 20 years of professional experience supporting people through grief, change, emotional distress, relationship concerns and significant periods of transition.
Her approach is grounded in presence, deep listening, nervous system awareness and respect for each person’s lived experience.
Julie believes that people are not broken and do not need fixing. Counselling can provide the space to understand yourself more deeply and reconnect with the wisdom already within you.
